Environmental zealots would have you believe they alone stand for
wildlife, the defenceless critters, or Bambi in short. I might be
going out on a limb here. They are not standing for wildlife but
for standing for your money, nothing more. And you, America are
giving it to them. They are well funded. They are not
defenders of wildlife but plaintiffs in lawsuits impeding the
Government
in carrying out the true wishes of the populace. Think of the
levees in the New Orleans area that needed repairs. The Sierra
Club stopped this in their opposition to dams and are responsible in
part for a
destroyed New Orleans. Think of the devastating forest fires of
the last 15 years. Last year alone California fires cost 15
billion dollars to extinguish. As we take the NIMBy (not in my backyard)
approach we fail to be good stewards of the land. We export our
demand for wood products to other countries and we then end up paying
billions to put out the fires when they occur.
This trend is one that shouldn't go
unchecked. if we allow the left to boil down environmental
issues to a 10 second sound bite, conservatives are going to
lose.
Why? Issues are complex and we fail to identify simple messages
to the TV camera. Opponents to active forest management have
simple messages. The MSM loves environmentalists and never seem
to question their inconsistencies.
